I remember, when I was little(probably around 8 or 9 years old), every time I went to a store I'd buy a Slim Jim. I used to love those sticks of meat, and I'd peel the skin off and eat that before actually eating the meat part and... anyways, I was at the store with my father once, and naturally I asked if I could have a slim jim. We had already paid for our stuff, but he said yes anyways. He handed me a dollar, and I told him I'd give him back the change. It said they were only 99 cents. He said, "No, you're not getting any change back. They tax you a cent for it so it's a dollar." "That's not true!" I laughed at him, "the tax is already in the price. I bet I'd get a penny back!" "Nooo, you're wrong!" He laughed at me as I got a slim jim and brought it to the cashier. He rang it up and said, "99 cents." I gave him the dollar. By this time, I thought my father was right and he wouldn't give me any change back, since my father's older than me and knows more than I. Nevertheless I always seemed to be making these miniature bets with him... The man handed me the slim jim and said, "Your change..." He handed me a penny and smiled. I turned around grinning and shouted "See? See!? I told you! I was right!" I gave him the penny and ran around him in circles as we left the store. He laughed a lot.
xD I can't help but laugh every time I remember that day. I get happiness out of the smallest things... I thought I'd share it with all of you. Looking back, the cashier probably wouldn't have given me a penny if I was older or if he hadn't heard my bet. But it's still cute. I've been reminiscing all morning, about things like how strawberries used to come in little green, square baskets and the strawberries were always big and had a white tongue inside the core. We'd used to take those strawberry baskets and use them for all sorts of things, like taping them up completely with masking tape and using them for our rock collections... stuff like that. -sigh- Everything was so cheap and happy. I miss it.
Anyways, I've ran out of things to draw again. I want to do something for myself, to see if I can make it look as good as the art I do for others always is. So far nothing's turned out right and all I can do is make up stories in my head about my characters and nothing in general. I also want to try working with thicker lines. They never look good when I use them, but I don't like working with thin lines very much either... I also tried using my sketch as lineart, not bothering to redo it digitally, but it didn't work. Does anyone know how to do that? I want to draw something and maybe get it submitted by the end of Sunday, but that might not happen, so sorry guys. What a strange art block I'm having... I was also thinking that for every journal I made, I'd submit a piece of artwork, be it a deviation or just some scrap I'd show here. I was also thinking of featuring artwork in my journal too, along with artists. But my main priority is to draw something I'm satisfied with. |:
It's going to be a busy two days. I want to go looking for a graduation dress by Sunday, and I need to work on some projects for school. I finally finished A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, which is now one of my favourite books ever. :3 It's so big though, I thought I'd have to use another book for my book report. But it's done!
Nothing else very important I want to say... I wanna buy a Hollister jacket for a DC/NY trip I'm hoping to go on, but I don't want to spend any of my money. Gahhh. I'll buy it sooner or later. Sometimes I wish we had more money. x:
I'm also reading Sipiyu by *messa at the moment, and it's really good! I suggest you all read it.
If anyone wants to see a specific character of mine drawn, suggest so please! And as a final note, I don't think I have a fursona anymore.
